India Restaurant - My First Iftaar Party Celebration

There are some of the best places in Kolkata who need no introduction. India Restaurant in the Kidderpore area near Fancy Market is one of them. Serving one of Kolkata's best Biriyani and Mughlai cuisines, this place has gone through a makeover lately.

 It’s a time of Ramadan and everyone know how sacred it is, tradition and rituals they follow during the entire month. After going for a fast for whole day, how they approach for their food is super awesome and first time I have an opportunity to enjoy the same. I visited this place for the last time few years back but yesterday I was there for Iftaar Party. I was spellbound reaching the restro...it's completely changed. The renovation has gone surprisingly gorgeous and it was like entering a Badshahi Palace or like a Muslim architecture influenced posh building in some Middle Eastern country. Everything starting from the walkway, washrooms, sitting area, lighting, furnishing, all are exclusively designed with sophisticated taste and utmost care. The staffs are like cherry on the cake. They are so polite, well-knowledgeable and prompt; it feels like eating at home.

And what to say about foods! It is as good as before...the same traditional practice for more than two decades. Still, I would like to define every dish served in the Iftaar Party.

• Chicken Pakoda

The all time favourite snacks for Kolkatans...perfect preparation, crisp and scrumptious.

• Mutton Galawati Kebab 

wow! wow! wow! I think that's enough to describe this special mouth watering kebab. Very well prepared and each bite of it offer the feeling of heaven. I think this is the best Galawati mutton kebab I had in my lifetime. 

• Lucknowi Paratha

This special type of paratha was served along with the Galawati Kebab...soft, juicy, crispy kebab with crunchy parathas... just heavenly!

• Egg Chilli

A li'l twist in the Mughlai menu was Egg Chilli. I think this is first time had egg chilli which I find a very innovative recipe. I will definitely try to cook this at home. But here I find this awesome taste...a very innovative, must try. 

• Chicken Reshmi Kebab 

Can't explain the taste in words...it was so soft can't imagine and so the masala and smoky tandoori taste

• Veg Pakoda 

Deep fried assorted veggies and mirch pakora...Thumbs Up   

• Veg Chop 

Golden fried and the aroma of the spices was striking

• Virgin Mojito Slush

Perfect to chill in the summer and awesome companion with the crispy, tangy appetizers served soon.

• Strawberry Mojito Slush

Yummy strawberry flavour and tempting taste.

• Mutton Haleem 

Thick, creamy haleem filled with mutton keema...exceptionally great in taste and texture.

• Dates and Fresh Fruits 

Iftaar Party never completes without dates and some fruits...so was here...Afghani Dates and lots of fresh fruits - Banana, Watermelon, Mango, Papaya.
